After the challenges of COVID-19’s two-year scourge and the floods of October, 2022 — in addition to the recent close call — the popular markets are making their long-anticipated comeback after last Christmas’ well-attended event.
Rochester Business Network secretary and market coordinator Milly Cain said the town needed visitors to return and had put the call out for stallholders to register for the market each month.
“Events like the market are a fantastic way to encourage people to come to Rochy,” Ms Cain said.
“We also welcome more local food growers and producers to have a stall at the market and would encourage those in the Shepparton area to get in touch.
“We are looking forward to hosting another fabulous event in Rochy.”

Horses for health
Another education-packed weekend is being held for people to learn more about the benefits of Equine Assisted Services at Euroa Horse Park on February 3 and 4.
The program is designed for health practitioners and counsellors, (especially those working with challenged youth or disabled), as well as people who have special needs. The program also caters for general horse riders of all sports and disciplines.
The presenters include Equine Facilitated Learning coach Sally Francis, registered nurse and owner of Euroa Horse Park Vanessa Hawkins, and Yea physiotherapist Kim Slavin.
The special guest is London Paralympics Gold Medallist Joann Formosa, will be in the saddle to assist Sally, Vanessa and Kim with their presentations.
“We are running the weekend clinic to not only increase awareness of the benefits of being around animals and riding horses but to promote better social integration and understanding of people with disabilities,” Ms Hawkins said.

Play it safe this summer
Goulburn-Murray Water is anticipating increased visitation at its lakes, dams and reservoirs over summer, and encourages visitors to make safety a priority.
“In summer, some of our storages can have thousands of people visiting them in a single day,” G-MW water storage services general manager Martina Cusack said.
“People therefore need to account for car parks and camping areas potentially being crowded and, in some cases, full.
“If you are boating, there may also be a lot more swimmers and vessels around than usual. Respecting the waterway rules, such as speed limits and no boating zones, is not only important for your own safety but the safety of those around you.
“We also ask people not to swim or boat near our weirs and other regulators, as the currents near these assets are often incredibly dangerous.”
