Customers in the Central Goulburn district of the GMID Customer Committee – Central, and in the Loddon Valley and Torrumbarry districts of the GMID Customer Committee – West, will be called on to vote.
G-MW recently concluded the expression of interest process for customers looking to join its new committees, which will replace the existing water service committees.
The GMID Customer Committee – East districts, and the Rochester district in GMID Customer Committee – Central, received the required number of expressions of interest and do not require an election.
The Central Goulburn district of the GMID Customer Committee – Central includes Kyabram, Tatura, Merrigum and Tongala, and has about 3600 G-MW customers.
It stretches from Goulburn Weir in the south to where the Goulburn River meets the Murray in the north, and the Goulburn River in the east, to Echuca in the west.
The final GMID Customer Committee – Central will include four representatives from the Rochester district and five representatives from the Central Goulburn district.
For the GMID Customer Committee – West, the Loddon Valley and Torrumbarry districts both had more applications than positions available, triggering elections for both districts.
The final GMID Customer Committee – West will include four representatives from the Loddon Valley district and five representatives from the Torrumbarry district.
The Loddon Valley district stretches from Pyramid Hill in the east to Boort in the west, and Serpentine in the south to a few kilometres short of Kerang in the north.
The Torrumbarry district stretches from Gunbower in the east to Nyah in the west. The Murray River acts as its northern boundary, and it stretches south as far as the Marcorna Main channel (No 2).
G-MW water delivery services general manager Warren Blyth encouraged G-MW customers within the affected districts to have their say.
“A major role of the customer committees will be to represent the broader interests of their customers, so voting is a good way for customers to ensure their views are heard,” Mr Blyth said.
Committee members will offer insight into the issues G-MW customers and communities are facing and provide strategic advice on various matters relating to G-MW services.
Committee membership will be approved by the G-MW Board before the members commence their new roles in June.
“We appreciate everyone who took the time to apply for our customer committees,” Mr Blyth said.
“We received a lot of high-quality applications and are looking forward to working with the elected members in the coming months.”
Voting will close on Monday, April 7. Customers can place their votes at: https://yoursay.gmwater.com.au/customer-committees
