The company has appointed an experienced water broking sales support officer to advise and handle water sales.
Karen Boyd joined Elders Shepparton in December and the new service kicked off on Monday, January 23.
Ms Boyd has nine years experience working in the field. In her previous role at Kyabram, she handled permanent and allocation trades as well as carryover, which are all offered through Elders, as are other products such as lease and forward allocation.
“I’ve had the opportunity of working with farmers, irrigators, retired farmers and investors,” Ms Boyd said.
Her nine years has also seen her working through some of the toughest times in water trading, when farmers have had to make some difficult decisions in the face of higher prices driven by drought and high demand.
“It can be an emotional time for farmers when there are difficult decisions to make.”
A change in conditions more recently has seen allocation prices around $35/Ml, as water storages are full and demand has been low.
Elders Shepparton branch manager Nic Savage said the company identified a gap in the market and saw an opportunity to provide an extra service from the Shepparton office for their customers.
