The level of Lake Eildon had fallen to 99 per cent on Friday, October 27, following sustained releases from the dam.
Earlier this month, the storage was holding just over 100 per cent of capacity.
Releases have reduced from 2000 megalitres a day in the week beginning October 16 to about 1000 Ml/day on October 27, and were expected to stay at a similar level until Monday, October 30.
Goulburn-Murray Water says the current high storage level can largely be attributed to the higher-than-average rainfall stemming from three consecutive La Niña events and a negative Indian Ocean Dipole.
Last year was only the third time since records began in 1900 that a La Niña weather pattern had occurred in three consecutive years.
Inflows to Lake Eildon during June this year were more than three times the monthly average.
Eppalock reservoir was holding about 95.8 per cent of capacity as of October 27.
Dartmouth was holding 99.2 per cent.
