One Cobram youth is making a name for himself in the world of endurance sports.
Cameron Sneddon, 15, won first place at the Shepparton Hexman Enticer triathlon on Sunday, February 2.
The under-20 category race involved a 250m swim in Victoria Park Lake, a 10km cycle to Mooroopna and back, and a 3.5km run to finish it all off.
An avid runner, Cameron said he was pleased with his achievement.
“I wasn’t expecting to be out in front. I was always expecting to turn around and have someone come up right past me,” he said.
But with a time of 32 minutes and 43 seconds, Cameron found himself finishing at least five minutes ahead of second-place finisher Finlay Arnold (37 minutes and 53 seconds).
Cameron had already competed in three triathlons this year, and has booked himself into another event in Albury-Wodonga later in March.
He said he hoped to take his sport to the Olympics some day.
