That is the question on everyone’s minds after ladder leaders Peppin Planners suffered a defeat on Wednesday.
Having established a big lead in the competition and coasting to lead other teams into the final, Peppin were off their game against the second placed Legal Eagles.
The Eagles won 18 sets and 140 games to Peppin’s 10 sets and 109 games.
The Eagles had six players winning their three sets - Bern Murphy, Tom Hooke, Mick Farley, Rob Sobolewski, Jamie Howard and Will Bull.
New recruit Shelby Taggert won her three sets playing for Peppin.
Legal Eagles got off to a strong start winning the first round of sets 7-2 and maintained the pressure winning the second round 6-4 and the third round of mixed sets 5-4.
Peppin men’s captain Michael Williams is currently out of his team with injury, and leading lady Steph Calder has not played for the past two rounds.
Steph has not lost a set in the comp so far, and her return will bolster Peppin no end.
Clearly, team selections and injury are causing the teams and captains difficulties in getting their best team on the courts week-after-week.
Mitre 10 was expected to win its match against Deni Newsagency, but the latter was able to turn around their season and held on to win 14 sets and 131 games to Mitre 10’s 14 sets and 125 games.
A slow start in the first round of matches was the downfall for Mitre 10 letting Newsagency win 6-3.
Mitre 10 won the second rounds 6-4 and the third 5-4, but were unable to win sufficient games to overcome their first round start.
Each team had three set winners.
Mitre 10’s were Alex O'Brien, Aidan Dellar and Darcy Pogue, while for Newsagency it was Annie Bulmer, Henry Pisasale and Georgia Denny.
Henry is making huge gains each week since joining the senior competition.
He won one set in the first match he played for Newsagency, and has now followed up by being a three set winner this round.
Henry likes to give his first serve a fair belt but has a consistent second serve and a strong all court game.
His opponent described the young junior player as an up-and-coming player, clearly following in his mother's footsteps.
It is clear that the Deniliquin Lawn Tennis Club Junior Tennis is turning out players with an all-round game and with the tennis smarts to catch senior players off guard.
There are only three rounds remaining in the twilight competition before finals.
