It wasn’t the Bowls Premier League campaign Moama was hoping for, with the Steamers taking a step back from their previous campaigns.
After finishing sixth in both of the BPLs in 2024, just outside the finals, the Steamers crashed to the bottom of the ladder in BPL21, winning six and losing 16 of its 22 fixtures.
A changing line-up has affected the Steamers' consistency over the past year, with 300-game veteran of the franchise Ryan Bester departing the squad after BPL19 in Moama last year.
Local Cassandra Millerick and Aron Sherriff were joined by fellow local Kevin Anderson for BPL20 and debutant Kane Nelson in last week’s BPL21.
The Steamers can take some heart from the eventual winners, the Gold Coast Hawks, who went from finishing in last place in BPL20 to upsetting the dominant side of the group stage, the Geelong Jets, to claim the championship in BPL21 in straight sets, 6-5, 6-2.
BPL22 will be at Club Pine Rivers in Queensland from October 27-31.
