The RSL Club has agreed to sponsor the main event, the $16,000 Diggers Cup.
Racing Club president Magnus Aitken said they were extremely grateful for this support.
“Anzac Day is such an important day in our history, and it has long been recognised in Deniliquin with services at the cenotaph, followed by an afternoon of fun and relaxation at the races.
“Our partnership with the RSL Club helps us continue providing a quality day of racing and entertainment,” Aitken said.
The Deniliquin RSL Sub-branch also sponsors a race on Anzac Day, further strengthening the link between the day’s racing and the Anzac Day commemorations, which is further enforced by an on-course ceremony to recognize the sacrifice and service of our ANZACs.
Deniliquin RSL Club chairman Bob Crampton said supporting the Anzac Day races went hand-in-hand with the aim of the RSL Club - to honour our Diggers.
“We’re pleased to be able to sponsor the Diggers’ Cup.
“We had sponsored the race day many times in the past, and we’re happy to be back on board and supporting it again.”
A bumper crowd is expected at this year’s Anzac Day race meeting, which will be the only major sporting event in Deniliquin that afternoon.
There will be a huge line-up of entertainment and family fun, including fashions on the field, live music, bar and refreshments, with TAB facilities plus local and metropolitan bookmakers for the avid punter.
For the football fans, the big clash between Collingwood and Essendon will be live on the big screen.
Anzac Day action will continue in the evening, with the tradition of two-up returning to the RSL Club from 7.30pm.
The Race Club is encouraging everyone to purchase their 2025 memberships early.
They are currently on sale for $60, which entitles the member to entry on both race days this year, the other being on Saturday, October 18, coinciding with the Caulfield Cup in Melbourne and The Everest in Sydney.
Membership also gives entry into the $500 lucky member’s draw on October 18.
Aitken said there had so far been a slow response to membership sales and the club is encouraging the public to take out a membership to support the ongoing efforts to provide racing for Deniliquin and district.
Membership payments can be made to BSB 633-000, account 146 592 142. Please use your surname as a reference.
