Berrigan batted first and made a total of 345.
Archie Mason took 2/72 off 19 overs, Lenny Dattoli got 2/62 from 15 overs, Justin Crowley had figures of 2/39 off eight overs and Dillon Hutton was the leading wicket-taker for the Cats with 3/40 off eight overs.
Matthew Ross top-scored with 134 off 106 balls, and Connor Thornton also reached a milestone, scoring 50 off 40 balls for Berrigan.
Finley went out to bat, resuming at 0/19 and were dismissed for 70 with Harry Wilkinson making 15, Cougar McGrath 12 and Archie Mason 13.
Jacob Bartlett was the main destroyer for the Saints, taking 7/36 off 12 overs.
Luke Melville also took 2/9 off 3.2 overs, and Matt Whelan took 1/17 off 10 overs.
Berrigan batted again, making a further 5/190 before declaring, with Ross scoring his second century for the match, 100 off 72 balls and Luke Melville scoring 55 not out off 58 balls.
In Finley’s second innings, Mason (47) and McGrath (76 not out) got off to a good start before a hat-trick by Matthew Ross spoiled the top order.
Justin Crowley (47 not out) batted the overs out with McGrath for Finley to finish 4/182 off 32 overs.
Ross was the pick of the bowlers for the Saints in the second innings with figures of 4/14 off five overs.
Berrigan won after the first innings lead of 275 runs and ultimately by 283 runs, but were unable to achieve an outright victory against a resilient Finley.
The next round of MVCA A-grade for the clubs sees Finley host the Deni Rhinos, while Berrigan are at home against Barooga in T20 matches this Thursday.
The two-day competition resumes a week later with Finley scheduled to play at home against Tocumwal and Berrigan is away against Katamatite.
