Lockington Ladies Bowling Club held its annual 3 Bowl Triples tournament on Wednesday, September 21, which was supported by Nichol Trading Rochester.

Play was eventually stopped after the 14th end because of rain, however, even though we were unable to complete the full tournament everyone enjoyed the hospitality and lunch provided,
Clubs represented were Cohuna Golf, Calivil/Dingee, Tongala, Kyabram, Golden Square, Rochester, Rich River, Elmore, Mathoura, Pyramid Hill, Echuca and Lockington.
Tournament Secretary Lorraine Appleby introduced president Denise Gilmore who welcomed everyone and thanked them for coming along to play and introduced Glenda Nichol from Nichol Trading who presented the trophies.
The club wishes to thank Nichol Trading for their continued support over many years.
Results were, Roll to the spider: Linda McManus — Cohuna Golf. Roll to the ditch: Pam Plant — Dingee.
At the end of play there were four two-game winners being Rochester, Elmore, Cohuna Golf and Lockington.
The eventual winners were the Elmore team of Anne Williams, Dawn Gerrish, Eileen Burke.
Runners-up were Rochester represented by Yvonne Smollenaars, Kaye Barker, Kathy Williams on a countback from the Cohuna Golf team of Yvonne Eckhardt, Linda McManus and Jean Sutherland.
The unlucky Lockington team were represented by Marg Dowie, Sue Harris and Kathy Maddison.
Rochester
Ladies monthly meeting was postponed to Tuesday, September 27 (today). Tuesday morning social bowls will run as normal. Phone in by 9.15am.
The first round of the Open Club Championship will take place on Tuesday, October 11. All ladies are encouraged to put their name on the list in the clubrooms prior to Sunday October 2.
No Thursday Pairs on September 29, instead it will be Seniors Day as members would have read about in last week’s Campaspe News.
All seniors in the Rochester and Campaspe Region are invited to this social afternoon at the Rochester Bowls Club. The day will run from 1pm until 4pm. It’s a fun day and afternoon tea will be provided and the bar will be open. Flat-soled shoes please.

Practice match Saturday, October 1, at 1pm. List for names in foyer. Please get names in by September 27 for the selectors.
Get your names in early, so the selectors are able to work out some suitable teams that we can use for White Hills and weekend pennant after that. Pennant Practice for weekend pennant will be on Tuesday nights at 4pm.
Weekend pennant practise match at White Hills is being planned for Saturday, October 8, depending on numbers. List in the foyer.
60+ Over results from Tongala’s first day for the season saw lots of two game winners at lunch. Play did not continue because of the weather.
Winners were drawn from the cards and were Echuca’s Eddie Smith, Bruce Haines, Bluey Chaplin and John Cowan. Runners up were K. Humbert, A. Harris, I. Johnson and G. Turner.
Delegate Chooka Tinning rang yours truly to say someone had left their 2 bowls behind in Tonny. I told him no-one had contacted me, but I checked my bag and found he rang the right person. At least I didn’t need to ring some other idiot!
60+ Over continues on September 28, at Moama, at 11am.

Duty is from 5pm to 6.30pm, Monday to Friday until pennant begins in mid October.

60 & Over bowls results
Campaspe Valley & District 60 & over Bowls Group held its Wednesday weekly bowls at Tongala Bowls Club on a cool cloudy day and threatening rain.
Twenty-eight teams, consisting of 112 bowlers, all competed for a chook.
Because of the rain that came at the end of the second game, play was abandoned.
The two game winners cards were fanned and the winner and runner up cards were drawn from those cards. Ray Hanson’s team from Lockington was runners up.
They were Graham Turner lead, Andrew Harris second, Ian Johnson third and Kevin Humbert was their skipper. The winners on the day were Eddie Smiths team from Echuca.
The team were Bruce Haines lead, John Cowan second, Bluey Charman third and Eddie Smith was their skipper. Members of both teams received a chook each.
The next 60 & over bowls was at Moama Bowls Club on September 26.
