She plays regularly with her dad Ross and competes a fair bit too, travelling to play against some of the areas most talented young players.
Her dedication has seen her win the Murray District Golf Association’s Juniors On The Move (JOM) competition, held as part of the Jack Newton Junior Golf program.
She also placed third for the tournament overall, after the results of the Riverina, Western Riverina and Murray districts were collated.
Played on January 10, the 9-hole format golf competition was contested by 70 players from around the regions.
Her win comes after a season's worth of winning and placing on different courses around the Murray River region.
Rivah was able to beat out a pair of young golfers from the Thurgoona Country Club Resort to claim the Murray title.
The junior competition gives young people an opportunity to be able to learn to play and compete on courses.
“Nine-hole tournaments are held once a month across New South Wales and are ideal for kids who have completed golf clinic programs and are now ready to take the next step-up in their golfing development,” the organisers said.
“At Juniors On The Move, children will learn how to play the game on a golf course, the rules of golf as well as the important ingredient of etiquette.”
Rivah’s commitment to the game and her vast experience for a player her age has put her in good stead for this type of learning and competitions.
Improving every time she steps onto a course, Rivah was able to secure her win in the JOM competition with one first placing, two top five finishes and another top 10 placing across the season.
Playing several events across the year gave Rivah a real tour experience on her way to victory.
Rivah will now make the transition into the junior open events of the Jack Newton Junior Golf.
This will see here playing against kids as old as 18, and on an 18-hole golf course.
Her next tournament, and her first open age event, will be at the Albury City Golf Course as part of Jack Newton Junior Golf.
