The day was well represented with 17 bocce players and six new players that have never picked up a bocce bowl wanting to take up this new discipline.
Particiants came from Shepparton, Cobram, Tatura and Kyabram and Bocce Australia’s sports development officer Sonia Fava was also present, bringing with her the new synthetic bowls used to play Raffa Bocce.
Unfortunatly not enough bocce sets were provided so Kyabram players stood out so new players could play.
Regulation Raffa Bocce bowls must be in the range of 105mm to 108mm in diameter and weigh from 890g to 930g and come in different colours.
Thereby making the game attractive as a spectator sport. The game is also suited to be played by all — children, women and men of all ages.
The Kyabram Bocce Club will hold the next come and try day on Sunday, February 26 at 1pm.
All interested players are invited to come along by registering their interest with G. Greco on 0419 157 605
Players must be at the club by 12:30pm. The draw will be made at 12:45pm with the afternoon closing at about 5pm. Afternoon tea will be available.
New players will be coupled up with a bocce player, so as to play in a doubles format.
Winners will receive prize money.
At the recent come and try day, first place was picked up by mother and daughter combination in Rosa and Fran Russo. Second was M. Borrelli and Carmela Catania and third was Coz Gutuso and Angelina Borrelli.
Ms Fava is looking forward to the February come and try day and will bring more bowls so nobody misses out.
