Run between October 30 and November 2; the tournament had 90 players from across Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and England play off against each other at Baroooga Sporties Club.
PGA Victoria head David Barker said the event couldn’t have gone better.
“It was outstanding,” he said.
“The Sporties Golf Club couldn’t have been more supportive of the players and the players were incredibly impressed with the West Course (which was where the tournament was played) and how it was presented.”
All the players who competed are undertaking a three-year education course with the PGA to train them with the skills required to become the next Tiger Woods.
“This tournament is all about developing the future club professionals and coaches,” Barker said.
Players competed on an 18-hole course and played four rounds, totalling 72 holes each over four days.
It was just as much fun off the course, with Sporties Barooga going all out with fun off-field events, including bowls and barbecues.
The tournament was eventually won by Levi Schlater, who had to play against Xander Basson to come out victorious.
Schlater’s victory will have him next compete at the 40 net PGA Championship, to be held in Queensland in three weeks.
Barker said Barooga Sporties had ensured everyone involved in the tournament would leave with happy memories.
“The hospitality from the community and club was outstanding,” he said.
“I am sure the players will go back to their own clubs with stories to tell.”
The tournament will return in 12 months.
