Pearse has been recognised with the prestigious Australian Sports Medal after a heroic 2022 Commonwealth Games performance for the Australian Dolphins team.
The accolade commemorates Australian sporting participation in multi-sports events, and Victoria Govenor Linda Dessau presented attendees with their medals at Victorian Government House.
Pearse was awarded the medal alongside his Victorian Commonwealth Games teammates on Sunday, all recognised for their achievements at the Birmingham edition.
This recognition comes after Pearse climbed to new heights on the international swimming stage, inspiring a legion of growing fans in Australia.
Pearse was the gold medallist in the S10 100m butterfly back in August, his maiden international gold medal and the latest in a growing cabinet, adding to a Paralympic bronze at Tokyo in 2021 and a pair of silver medals at the World Paraswimming Championships in Portugal this year.
The young talent was one of 67 gold medallists at the Birmingham Games and one of 178 medallists overall in one of Australia’s most successful campaigns to date.
After a slew of international exposure in recent years, Pearse is now targeting his second Paralympics Games appearance, this time in Paris for the 2024 edition.
