A six-under-par at Howlong on January 24 resulted in Corowa’s Nathan Thomas achieving his best handicap to date, that of plus four.
It was three under par for Thomas at Corowa on January 25. Then, on Australia Day, the 36-year-old fired a sizzling six-under-par at his home club.
Three days of golf for 15 under-par! “It’s the best golf I’ve ever played,” Thomas admitted.
“I’m very happy with my golf and the consistency and also very happy playing golf with my wife Leisha on the weekend. She’s only been playing since June and her handicap has gone from 49 to 22.”
Only professional, James Gordon has a better handicap than Nathan, with James on plus seven. But there are youngsters at Corowa, about 20 years younger than Nathan, who are “moving up the leaderboard”.
In other news, Corowa’s favourite son Marcus Fraser and Corowa’s popular professional James Gordon unfortunately, who practised together for the first time, at 13th Beach, last Wednesday, didn’t make the cut at last week’s 2025 Victorian Open at 13th Beach. Both finished minus two with rounds of 74 and 68 (Fraser) and 69 and 73 for Gordon; the cut (professionals) being plus four.
