Having won the toss and electing to bowl, Tallarook restricted the visiting side to just 134 runs, bowling Pyalong out within 45 overs.
While James Hadjiloukas and Samuel McDonald provided some resistance with scores of 41 and 25 not out respectively, they were no match for the Rooks’ bowling attack which included Blake Munari-O’Dwyer, who claimed 4-24, while skipper Lachlan Watts (2-17) and Matthew Archibald (2-22) were both also handy contributors.
In the chase, Tallarook openers Leigh Irving and Joshua Rudge decided they didn’t want to stick around, belting the required runs in just 21.3 overs, with Irving finishing not out on 79 off 58 deliveries and Rudge contributing an unbeaten 52 to seal a dominant win.
The win sees Tallarook remain comfortably atop the ladder with three rounds remaining before finals, with Seymour moving into second spot after a 32-run win over Puckapunyal, defending a total of 111 with some brilliant bowling.
The match between Yea and Alexandra was abandoned.
In B-grade, Avenel hung on to win an absolute thriller against Tallarook by four runs to continue its stranglehold on top spot, Alexandra beat Pyalong by seven wickets and Yea was too strong for Seymour with a comfortable 82-run win.
