The BCGR Premier League held its penultimate round at the weekend, and local hope Moama secured its minor premiership status.
Having finally regained top spot last week with a victory over leader Bendigo, the Steamers looked to hold on to its ranking against seventh-placed Eaglehawk.
In a powerful team effort, Moama took all four rinks in the contest, running away 18-101 to 0-59 winners.
Matt Robertson led the most successful rink for the locals, his squad of Jacob Brighton (lead), Olivia Cartwright (second) and Peter Campbell (third) scoring the win 30-15.
The Alex Marshall skipped rink wasn’t far behind, winning 28-15, while Kevin Anderson (24-12) and Cameron Keenan (19-17) also earned useful wins.
Having scored maximum points, Moama was guaranteed top spot for at least another week, but locked in the ranking for the season when Bendigo was downed by South Bendigo in other round 13 action.
Moama concludes home-and-away play when it hosts Bendigo East at Moama Bowling Club this Saturday as it prepares for the finals series.
