A brilliant all-round performance from Curtis Townrow helped Echuca seal a thrilling 11-run win against Kyabram Fire Brigade in a cracking Bill Williams Shield B-grade clash on Saturday.

Townrow hammered six fours and three sixes in an explosive 62 from 43 balls as Echuca made 9-142 at Kyabram’s Northern Oval.
Tom Owen (3-10) claimed the key wicket of Townrow, with Shannon O’Brien (3-26) also impressing.
The Flames looked on track for the points at 5-125 as Corey Carver reached 50, his fourth half-century of the season.
But Townrow turned the game in Echuca’s favour, claiming Carver’s wicket and following that with three more in quick succession to finish the match.
He finished with the figures of 5-8 as Kyabram Fire Brigade lost its last five wickets for six runs.
The win keeps Echuca on top of the ladder ahead of BLU, who defeated Leitchville-Gunbower by nine wickets.
Leitchville-Gunbower was skittled for 67 with Alex Wagner (4-29) and Brett Mundie (3-5) running riot.
Darren Petersen (38 not out) did much of the heavy lifting as BLU overhauled the target in 15.5 overs.
Rushworth’s Bradie Chillingsworth produced the round’s top knock, an impressive unbeaten 79, as the Tigers defeated Rochester.
Rushworth posted 5-173, with Chillingsworth and Harley Nancarrow (46) putting on 108 after the home side had been teetering at 4-28.
Rochester’s chase was held together by a fine 68 from Mitchell Hewes, but it fell 25 runs short as Kade Dearing collected 5-30.
Moama defeated Colbinabbin by eight wickets.
All five Mowers’ bowlers used took wickets with Rishabh Kothari (3-16) the pick as Colbo mustered 92.
Stuart Taylor’s hard-hitting 54 not out (nine fours, one six) guided Moama home in 13.2 overs.
Brad Stewart (49) and Luke Twynstra (42) powered Stanhope to 7-166 as Lachlan Caldwell took 3-27 for Tongala.
Captain Rory Knight (41) led from the front, but the Blues fell short as Craig Emmett took three wickets.
Northern United also won an 11-run thriller over Nondies-Cohuna at Bunnaloo.
The host side made 7-140 with Adam Thompson (30) top-scoring after Sukhwinder Bhinder (3-31) made the early in-roads for Nondies-Cohuna.
Scott Thompson (4-10) produced an inspired opening spell to put the visitors on the back foot and despite a sterling 34 from Angus Donat, Adam Thompson completed a top all-round effort with 3-20 to get Northern United home.
Tyler Oliver’s 57 inspired Elmore to a comfortable win over Echuca South.
Elmore made 158 despite Noah Densley (3-28) bowling well for the Swans.
Echuca South’s batting frailties again reared their head, bowled out for 54 in reply.
Matt Gilmour (4-25) did the bulk of the damage for Elmore.
Gus Underwood Shield (C-grade)
The Gus Underwood Shield C-grade competition was full of action.
BLU captain Xavier Kellow smashed 13 sixes in a sublime 116 as the Lions defeated Echuca South by 106 runs.
Josh Thurgood (53) shared a 148-run stand with Kellow as BLU finished at 265 all out.
Opener Adrian Flett scored a fine 58 as Echuca South had a crack at the sizeable target, but finished on 9-159.
Echuca won a four-run thriller against Stanhope at Victoria Park.
The host side made 9-126 (Easton Carlile 37) batting first as Jacob Gillie (3-13) and Jack Hepburn (3-37) bowled well.
Stanhope overcame a tough start to be right in the game at 7-111 after Jonathan Pearson’s 41 and Scott Marshall’s unbeaten 36, but lost its last three wickets for 11 runs to fall agonisingly short.
James Pedersen (3-23) and Daniel Hegarty (3-24) shone for Echuca.
Cooma and Girgarre produced outstanding bowling displays to skittle their respective rivals.
Rochester was bowled out for 22 by Cooma (Hunter Fawcett 3-2 and Tom Werner 3-6), who then made the runs in four overs.
Nondies-Cohuna made 23 against Girgarre (Ky McDonald 4-9 and Anthony Anderson 3-6), with the Roos losing two wickets in their five-over chase.
An unbeaten 58 from Samuel Vick helped Kyabram Fire Brigade defeat Tongala by four wickets.
Peter Raglus Shield (D-grade)
The Peter Raglus Shield (D-grade) featured wins to Girgarre, BLU and Echuca.
Steven Phillips hit a fine 83 not out as Girgarre defeated Rushworth.
Jamie Scott (54 retired) brought up a half-century in Echuca’s win over Tongala.
Brett Munro’s unbeaten 56 proved the difference as BLU accounted for Cooma.
