A belated International Women’s Day event, members considered it a great opportunity to offer a ‘come and try’ session to boost female participation.
Club president Neil Goudie was pleasantly surprised with the outcome.
“We ended up getting around 13 or 14 drivers, so it went really well,” Goudie said.
“As well as the drivers, there was an excellent crowd of spectators despite the hot conditions on Saturday.
“It was more of a come and try session, which made it really easy for those involved to get out, have a go and have some fun with it.”
Goudie said the track was in great condition for the event, which he said will have improved the experience for new and returning drivers.
Goudie said the club would now discuss whether to offer more events targeted at women.
“We really hope to add something like three to four events for a year because I am just over the moon with the event and how it turned out.”
New members, male or female, are welcome at any time. For more information about the club, and to view its calendar of regular events, go to www.dscc.com.au.
