Starting this Saturday Kyabram Cricket Club will meet only the second team so far this season currently in the Cricket Shepparton Haisman Shield competition’s top six.
The Redbacks will make the road trip to play Waaia, popular pre-season premiership favourite for the Haisman Shield, in a two-day clash.
While Waaia is currently inside the top six another six sides including Kyabram are all sharing 33 premiership points so it’s a highly competitive battle for spots in the finals at the halfway mark of the season.
The only team in the top six Kyabram has played and lost to this season is Nagambie, currently sitting in third spot, which beat it in the opening round.
Since that defeat Kyabram has won five successive games, but all against teams currently not in the top six or finals contention.
Last Saturday’s second day of the Kyabram-Katandra clash seventh round was a wash-out.
One of the interesting battles in this week’s clash will feature Kyabram’s gun batter Kyle Mueller and Waaia quick bowler Jesse Trower who have both just won selection in the Victorian team to contest the Australian Country Cricket Championships in the Barossa Valley early next month.

Last Saturday’s abandoned round due to the weather has left the youthful Brigade side a game outside the top four so it will be seeking a win at home against the battling Nondies Cohuna in a two-day clash starting on Saturday at Kyabram’s Northern Oval to keep itself in finals contention.
