Weekend pennant bowls drew hundreds to Goulburn Valley Playing Area greens on Saturday as players returned to the rinks for the beginning of the new season.

At Kyabram Bowling Club the host side put to bed the anguish of last season’s division two grand final loss by ousting East Shepparton 17-95 to 1-69.
Kyabram was steady across all four rinks, the best saved for last as John Hausler skipped to a 30-17 triumph.
Seymour started its run in the second strongly with a 16-100 to 2-87 beating of Tallygaroopna, Nagambie pushed aside Shepparton Golf 14-96 to 4-85 and Tatura-Hill Top had the better of Shepparton Park 16-106 to 2-94.
Division three action had a modern thriller go the way of Mooroopna Golf.

The Golfers edged out a 12-83 to 6-81 result over Shepparton Park, Lionel Blake’s rink claiming a vital 28-16 win among narrow losses.
Mooroopna, Avenel and Seymour VRI won the remaining division three contests, while the division four clashes went the way of Dookie, Euroa, Seymour and Eildon.
Lastly, East Shepparton, Colbinnabin and Merrigum picked up points in division five.
