Declaring its second innings closed at 3/107 after restricting Cooma to 72 in its first innings Echuca on Saturday left Cooma 179 runs to bring off the outright win.
Led by Jacob Kelly Cooma gave it its best shot, finishing at 8/156 to avoid the outright loss and also deprive the visitors of maximum points.
Kelly at number three batted through the Cooma innings to finish with an unbeaten 75 and with support from Brad Power, Cooper and Xavier Fawcett and Nathan Angelino left Echuca with first-innings points only.
Leitchville Gunbower was never in a daunting 297-run chase to beat Rochester and was dismissed for 87 in 53.5 overs.
Fighting and patient knocks from opener Tyler Jones with 21 and Kurt Brereton with a top score of 40 were not supported by teammates against the Rochester attack led by Fraser Cleary, who took 3/28 off 9.5 overs.
Bamawn Lockington United had some anxious moments chasing down Echuca South’s moderate score of 115 but got the job done in the finish.
BLU was 4/42 and 5/64 but Luke Thompson with 39, Joe Holloway with an unbeaten top score of 61 and Cody Thomson (15 not out) took the combine to 219 – and a comfortable win.
Fletcher Good with 3/38 was the most successful South bowler.
Nondies Cohuna lost its last seven wickets for just 45 runs as it fell for 137 chasing Moama’s 197.
Nondies resumed at 1/61 on Saturday but after losing Peter Moore for a top score of 33 when the score was 97 a chain reaction followed.
Not one of Nondies last seven batsmen got to double digits as the Moama attack, led by Jack Russell with four wickets, got right on top to engineer an early finish.
Russell was well supported by Rishabh Kothari and Billy Gallagher, both with two wickets.
When the season resumes on January 8 Fire Brigade travels to Cohuna and Cooma to Rochester.
