After all, if you allowed yourself to forget, the Shepparton Bulls very much run this domain in Rugby Victoria’s statewide senior premiership.
The Vibert Reserve natives were back on home turf for a hit-out with a twist on Saturday, entertaining three other sides in a pre-season hub of crashing and bashing.
Coming through to enjoy a handful of practice games were Bendigo, the Albert Park-based Power House Rugby Club out of the Dewar Shield and the newly-formed Tongala Bulldogs, taking on their first organised scratch match as a fresh outfit.
The senior Bulls will enter another season of union’s top Victorian competition as the hunted, having claimed back-to-back flags in seasons 2023-24.
The all-day parade of action puts our local contingent in good stead, with Rechelle Zammit pitchside to capture what unfolded.
