It was said two weeks ago that Karramomus’ run home would see fixtures against, in the words of skipper Mitch McGrath, ‘sides in our weight division’.

The Bloods’ last two day one performances to close out this season of the Cricket Shepparton Haisman Shield beg to disagree, however.
Having come within a whisker of claiming first-innings points without the need for a second day against Pine Lodge, Karramomus hosted Euroa with another chance to announce itself as one to watch in 2025-26.

Serving up an offence-friendly wicket, it was little surprise that McGrath’s men would take first crack at scoring on it - and score, they did.
McGrath and Zavier Davidson would repeat the dose out of the opening spots, cracking yet another stellar three-figure partnership to turn an already-simmering afternoon into a serving of fire and brimstone for the visiting Magpies.
The pair saw out well over half the day’s deliveries between them, sending a combined 23 to the rope, before Nicholas Hill finally delivered a measure of relief by removing Davidson in the 29th over.
The skipper would go on to his century with aplomb and perhaps consider himself somewhat stiff to miss a third bat-raise, though there were two more to follow in the order below him once his superb outing came to an end on 132.
Declan Newbound would shine with a fiery 59 while Jackson Darkes-Sutcliffe notched his first 50 on Australian soil - unbeaten at that - as the Bloods closed an almighty display out on 7-388.
THE GAME SO FAR
Karramomus 7-388 (Mitch McGrath 132, Zavier Davidson 70, Sham Dadallage 4-171) leads Euroa yet to bat
The colossal 80-over total sits as by far the greatest seen in the Haisman this season, and highest number overall since Kyabram throttled its way to 407 in round five of the 2023-24 campaign - also against a visiting Euroa side.
McGrath, mobbed with complimentary beverages after stumps, summed it all up.
“It was probably the perfect day,” McGrath said.
“Zavier got us started and picked up from where he left off.
“It was a batsman’s paradise out there and it was good that most of us cashed in. The boys all deserve it.
“We’re both very different bats. Zavier’s a bit more aggressive, so we complement each other, and it takes some of the pressure off me at the other end.
“He’s great to bat with and he’s a future star, so hopefully we get a few more partnerships in.”
It’s all part of what could be a significant surge up the table next year, if this momentum carries over.
Having used the past three weeks to firmly distance themselves from the competition’s bottom sides, the Bloods are firming as ones to watch.
“We’ve come in leaps and bounds this year,” McGrath said.
“We had some massive stepping stones with games against Central Park and Ky, and the last few weeks have shown we can take it up to sides.
“Hopefully, now that we’ve got some confidence and belief, we can take it into next year.
“Euroa’s still got some good bats in their side. It was an absolute road today and I assume it’ll produce something similar next week.
“As I say every time, we have to be disciplined, but I back the boys to do the job one more time.”
