The sun was out and the UV index was high at Shepparton Park and Tatura Bowls Club on Saturday, but that didn’t stop the lower grade bowlers from battling it out for their respective division titles.
In division two, Shepparton Golf defeated Tallygaroopna in a tight affair.
After both teams won two rinks each, Golf came out victorious, 14-96 to 4-90.
Having lost the first two rinks of the match (30-14 and 27-23), Tally showed considerable spirit to claw their way back into the game, but it wasn’t enough as Golf claimed the division two title.
In division three, Seymour VRI dominated in its grand final victory over Rushworth, winning three rinks to one.
Seymour started the match in blistering fashion as it scored 39 shots to eight in the first rink before continuing to achieve 115 shots for the game, nearly doubling Rushworth’s total of 66.
In division four, Eildon defeated Euroa in a convincing manner, 18-94 to 0-65, taking four rinks to none.
In division five, Merrigum defeated Colbinabbin three rinks to zero in their grand final as the scoreboard read 16-77 to 0-48.
Merrigum was in control all day before finishing the season off with a bang, winning the last rink 32 shots to 12.
In division six, Yea defeated Euroa 14-61 to 2-52 in a tight grand final.
The match was closely contested all day before Yea ran out the eventual winner.
In division seven, Mooroopna Golf claimed victory over Eildon, winning 14-44 to 0-31 to round out the Goulburn Valley Playing Area weekend pennant season.
