AFL Goulburn Murray and Goulburn Valley Football Umpires Association held an umpire clinic on Thursday, April 17.
The session was designed to develop the skills of football umpires within the region while offering talks from AFL umpire Alex Whetton and AFLW field umpire Sam Ritchie.
Potential field, boundary and goal umpires alike soaked up the knowledge handed down from the pair of expert officiators.
A large contingent turned out for the clinic in a positive sign for numbers and interest in football umpiring within the Goulburn Valley.
Footballs were hurled over heads and flags waved on the goal line as whistles rang out across the oval.
The session lasted for four hours and offered an in-depth insight into the life and role of umpires in arguably Australia’s top sport.
