The competition will be very social and run every Wednesday during November. Spectators including kids are more than welcome. This will certainly ensure a great atmosphere. The Fast Four Tennis will be fun with teams pitted against line-ups of similar abilities. At the conclusion of the night pizza will be supplied and the bar will be open to continue the socialisation process.
Teams can be entered by contacting Jason Bassett.
Wilby Tennis Competition
After the matches were washed out last week, the Wilby Tennis Association will commence this weekend.
This week matches commence on Friday night with Mulwala Gold hosting Tungamah Green, Telford will host Savernake and Mulwala Maroon will travel to play Tungamah Gold. Saturday’s match will see Wilby host Burramine. Anyone keen to play for any of these teams is encouraged to contact Association President John Wright.
Saturday Morning Tennis
This Saturday our junior program commences. With around 200 kids registered to play, the atmosphere is going to be awesome. Players are asked to arrive about five minutes before their Hot Shots or Coaching timeslot. It may be a little chaotic first week but it will be great fun. Players who are playing matches will commence with a week of ‘Up and Down the River’ which will mean players will have a range of partners and will hit a lot balls. Players playing matches must arrive prior to 8.55 for a 9.00 start.
Thursday Ladies Competition
The Thursday Ladies’ teams competition will commence on Thursday November 10. If anyone is interested please contact Gert Brunner or Narelle Bassett. Teams are created from individual names entered. This ensures that opponents are evenly matched and new players can easily find a team to play in. The competition organisers are looking at having two shorter seasons to hopefully suit the needs of the ladies playing.
Tuesday Mens Tennis
Tuesday night mens’ competition organiser Ash Wheaton has began the recruiting process and is aiming to construct teams very shortly. This competition caters for all abilities. Players enter individually and Ash then creates teams. This competition will start on Tuesday November 8.
Goulburn Murray Tennis
The Goulburn Murray Tennis Association was washed out on the weekend. The Shepparton Tennis Club has been severely flooded, and it is hoped their club is not too damaged once the water subsides.
Rock up and play sessions
The YLTC holds social aggregate style tennis at four different times during the week. Each of these events provide the opportunity for new players to come and trial tennis prior to committing to becoming a member.
Our main aggregate night is Friday night and this night will commence after the Melbourne Cup weekend.
Our other times where anyone can simply sign-in on the day are Saturday at 1.00p.m. for all players, Tuesday morning commencing at 9.30 for our ladies and Wednesday at 1.00 p.m. for our mens’ social hit. There is no compulsion to attend each of these on a weekly basis although once you have tried it once it will be hard to not keep going back.
