A Barooga sprinting sensation will compete in Sydney on Wednesday (October 19), with Paige Riedell looking to put her best foot forward.
Due to take to Olympic Park, Homebush in the NSW State Athletics’ Primary School Division, Riedell will represent the Riverina region in the under-13 girls 100m event.
Progressing through the zone carnival at Finley and coming first at the regional event in Albury, Riedell is sure to be up there with the best on the day.
Currently holding the Barooga Public School record for the 1500m, the rising talent has been a participant of Barooga Little Athletics since kinder, returning this year after a short absence due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Speaking ahead of her trip to Sydney, Riedell took the time to thank Little Athletics for its support getting her to this point.
Along with her involvement with Little Athletics, the young athlete has received guidance and training from Barooga Public School staff member “Robbo”, who is a qualified athletics coach.
Robbo has played a key role in Reidell’s development, helping her build her skills and producing an exercise and training regime.
Exceeding her 2022 goal by making the state titles, Reidell explained that playing soccer under Mario Mete for the Cobram Roar’s under-14s has helped her running.
She took the time to thank the people, school and community who have and continue to support her, along with the Barooga School P&C who donate $100 to assist children competing at a state level.
