Last Saturday there was a big field for the coveted Borella Cup and Rita Barnes Goblet. The cup was won by George Maddison with an impressive 45 points, and he also won C grade. Best ladies score to win the Rita Barnes Goblet was Sarah Aitken, who also won D grade.
A grade winner was Graeme Willoughby with a one over par round of 40 points to win by a shot to Brian ‘Billy’ Bourke, and in B grade the winner was Mark Thomas with 41 from Jenny Swainger 39. C grade runner-up was Magnus Aitken 39 points, and D grade runner-up Jason Kerr with 40 points.
Last Thursday the ladies played a fourball best ball round, won by Kym Sandford and Prue Lloyd with 45 points, from Sue Butcher and Jill Jeffrey 43.
On Wednesday the A grade winner was Neville Werner with 41 points from Neil Boswell on 40; in B grade Phil Gatacre had 42 to win by a shot to Tony Tonta, and in C grade Stephen Townsend had 39, winning on countback to Adam Wettenhall.
Members are advised to use caution when entering the club via Memorial Park, which will be the entrance while works on Memorial Drive are taking place for the next week or so.
Today the club has a major function, so Bingo has been cancelled for a week. Players are reminded it will be ‘eyes down’ as usual next Friday.
The raffles continue tonight, and if you are staying for dinner make sure you have a booking. Raffle tickets are on sale from 6pm with draws from 7.30pm.
