Skipper Brendan Hill won the toss once again and chose to have a bat.
Hill walked out to the middle with out of form Smart and the two looked to show some early intent with the bat.
With the Lakers being 20 off the first two overs, captain Hill decided to try and up the run rate getting caught early.
Next entered the recently promoted Zach Moore to the A Res side playing some lovely shots early but then hitting some catching practice to point not too long after.
Lakers now had two batsmen in that are lighting quick between the wickets.
Buerckner looked to pinch singles wherever possible and Theo two held down the fort for a while putting on a partnership just shy of 100.
Smart reached a classy 72 before missing a straight one. The quick running didn’t slow down with veteran Lidgerwood at the crease.
A few quick wickets saw Lidgerwood, O’Bryan and Dishot out for not many as the big show JT came to the crease making a quick fire 25.
With Buerckner sitting nervously on 49 he looked to get off strike and raise the bat to unfortunately be run out.
The team ending up with 219 for City Colts to chase.
A couple of early wickets started the boys off well with Dishot taking a screamer of a caught and bowled.
The batsmen out for the third wicket of the innings could be known as the ‘unluckiest man alive’.
The batsman has decided to hit the ball approximately 100m in the air (as said by the catcher) towards the athlete at mid-on, Sam Lidgerwood.
Hitting out lustily through mid-wicket is Fraser Smart for the A Res.

Just ask him folks, he will tell you how good the catch really was. The wickets continued to fall consistently with a few small partnerships from the help of Connell.
It was great to have Unique Shazam back in the side bowling some leg spin and getting the team up and about.
The final wicket was taken by part timer Zach Moore on the first ball of his spell and you could hear him sending off the 15 year old number 11 and telling the boys to get around him.
City Colts falling 86 runs short.
To sum up the season, A Res have finished second on the ladder and will be facing Delatite at home on Saturday, kicking off at 1pm.
In the wise words of Brendan Hill ‘if we’re going to waste our Saturdays playing cricket, we might as well win the whole thing and have a smile on our faces while doing it’.

This week B grade kicked off their finals campaign against Rutherglen at Lonsdale reserve and after losing the toss the Lakers were batting first.
Hudson Gillies and Jack Connell opened up with Connell back in the sheds early. Montgomery joined Gillies and the two began to steady the ship before the pair both fell to poor shots with the scores at 3-26.
With Dowling also going cheap, at the first drinks the boys were in a bit of trouble at 4-28.
Until a partnership from Alex Kealy “41” and Hunter Fraunfelder “26” which showed a mix of patient batting and power hitting got the boys back in the hunt.
Lach Phillips and Al Reily both chipped in for “12” and “11” at the end of the innings to get the scores up to a modest total of 8-123.
After the break Jyda House and Gary Browning took the new ball and it was Jyda who got the early wicket of the Rutherglen captain.
Browning took one in his next over then Jyda another and the Lakers were looking good with Rutherglen in trouble at 3-16.
A forward defensive prod to this ball by Lakers top scorer Alex Kealy ensures the ball does not threaten the stumps in the B Grade.

After the fiery opening spells the ball was thrown to Hunter Frauenfelder and Lach Phillips and with the Rutherglen batsman playing defensive cricket, the pair broke through with 2 wickets each and had Rutherglen at 7-42.
Rutherglen had one more chance at victory with arguably their best bat coming in at 9 and he began to put them back in it until Young Will Murphy got the big scalp.
Will took another wicket in his next over and Lach Phillips took the last of the game to bowl Rutherglen out for 92.
A great win for the boys who now move into the prelim final at Mul next week against Merton.
C Grade just fall short in last home and away match
Yarrawonga C Grade fell 22 runs short in pursuit of Beechworth Wanderers last Saturday.
The Lakers were all out for 187 after losing the toss. Three of the top four batsmen for Beechworth Wanders were impressive and fast enough scoring, with Nuck 49, Thompson 54 and Niklaus 42.
Ben Pickering (1/29 off eight overs), Shaun Hawking (1/16 of six) and Josh Vagg (1/35 from eight) tried hard to stem the flow of runs.
Late in the innings, Lucas Pickering sent four batsmen back, conceding 34 runs from his three overs.
Despite an early set back, the Lakers had a good second wicket partnership of 65 between opener Matthew Wilson (31) and Vagg (33).
Enter Ben Pickering who made an excellent 60 off 65 deliveries. Hopes were high with him at the wicket. Damian Leeburn added a brisk 17 off 17 and the grand-final specialist from the mid-1990s Peter Brear was stranded on 10 not-out.
