As we look at the local runners for Friday, we go to race four to find the first of these.
Ever Given (Race 4, No.7): This mare has finished just off the place-getters in her past two starts and comes into this race first up off a spell. Has drawn poorly in barrier 15 but this is offset somewhat with Jarrod Fry to take the ride. Must be given an each-way chance.
Aussie Beau (Race 4, No.15): Also trained by Gwenda Johnstone, Aussie Beau is the first emergency. In its two runs to date has finished a fair way off them and if it gains a run, I would expect it to be long odds, perhaps a rough place chance.
Bon Shadow (Race 5, No.1): Ran a bold race on its home track on July 17. Drawn well in barrier three, will race forward and is a strong chance. Can win and is an each-way play all day.
Tutankhamun (Race 7, No.7): Trained by Rhys Archard. Was a strong winner on his home track two starts ago. Drawn nicely in barrier two and with three starts at Echuca for a win and a second, is one to back each way.
Outlaw Ned (Race 7, No.9): Trained by Michael Cornish and Donna Gaskin, ran a bold third placing here on July 17. With that first-up run under his belt, a fitter Outlaw Ned can get the job done — strong chance.
Enamour (Race 8, No.6): The last of the locals. The Tayne Foster-trained mare was too strong for them in her last-start Bendigo win. That is strong form for this race and with three starts at Echuca for two seconds, Enamour will give a great sight — another local with a genuine each-way claim.
Gates open at 11am.
The first of nine races is at 12.30pm and we have three great blues artists here as well.
It promises to be a big day of country racing and blues music at the ERC.
