Iz Shaft (Race 2, No.2): The first of the locals comes up with the Tim Davies-trained Iz Shaft. This is his fourth run now for Tim. He has shown ability with a second on the Ballarat synthetic two starts ago, drawn to get a good run from barrier two and has claims.
Shadoway Drive (Race 2, No.10): Has been thereabouts in her 11 starts, also well-drawn, will handle the soft track and is an each-way play.
Endeavour Blue (Race 4, No.15): Been beaten a long way in her first two starts. Currently fifth emergency and will find a few of these too slick, if she gets a start
Live Life Loud (Race 5 No. 13): Have tipped this mare a few times and she has let me down. First try at the 2100m, drawn a horror gate in 19 and I’ve jumped off. Maybe a place, if she handles the rise in distance.
Barmah Al (Race 6, No.10): Excellent at Werribee. Consistent galloper and is a winner on his home track. Key hope.
Cost of Devotion (Race 6, No.15): Cost of Devotion is now fitter and looking for the 2100m, but the five-year-old mare needs to improve on recent form.
Bon Shadow (Race 7, No.1): Been fresh since his last-start third at Kilmore. Nice barrier (three) and senior rider Jarrod Fry, will give a big sight and can win this.
Outlaw Ned (Race 9, No.9): This Donna Gaskin-trained gelding has been placed two of three first-up. Has been place twice on his home track and at this distance. Drawn in barrier 10 and will give this race a real shake first-up — can win.
Common Request (Race 9, No. 16): Second emergency, his best form is over much further and will need this run, if he gets a start.
The Talking Toff (Race 10, No.5): Ready to peak now, fifth start for this preparation, won twice on his home track and three times at 1600m. Handles a soft track, another with genuine winning hopes.
Amaze’Em (Race 10, No.9): Has won here and at 1600m, barrier no help, but is still an each-way hope.
Best of the locals: The Talking Toff, then real each-way chances to Bon Shadow and Outlaw Ned.
First of 10 races at noon. Free entry, come out and enjoy a big day of country racing.
