Qubella (Race 2, No.12): The first of the local chances. Trained by Daryl Archard and with a strong Gunbower RC ownership. Was just average in its first start, when nine lengths from the winner at Warracknabeal. Natural improvement could see it challenging for the placing.
Wakiti Bull (Race 3, No.8): From the Rhys Archard stable. Wakiti Bull will need to find some improvement to challenge some of these.
Xena’s Reward (Race 3, No.14): From the Cornish-Gaskin stable. Xena’s Reward will be better suited over much further, deeper into this preparation, watch for her to be running on late.
Bangerang Redback (Race 5, No.8): It is his first attempt at the 2100m, but has winning form over 1600m just two starts ago. He will enjoy the soft track, has drawn for a soft run and if he stays this longer trip, can be right in the finish.
Tapo (Race 6, No.14): Has a win, on her home track and has handled soft tracks, will be right in the mix in this race each way claims at least, her last start second at Bendigo is strong form for this race.
Lika Swift (Race 7, No.9): He has won on his home track and the soft track is also to his advantage. A nice draw (barrier 7) and the 3kg claim for Rose Hammond makes Lika Swift another good each-way chance in a strong race.
The Talking Toff (Race 8, No.7): He is first-up and usually takes a run or two to find his best, although the soft track is a place.
Got Out The Fence (Race 8, No.8): A last-start Seymour winner. Well-drawn in barrier three and has won on soft tracks.
Mayan (Race 8, No.15): Has been too far behind them at his last couple, hasn’t showed any real liking for soft tracks and will go around long odds on current form.
GARRY’S BEST: My best local chance looks to be Tapo, in race 6. Has good natural speed, will go forward and give them something to run down.
