The first will be run at 12.56pm and the lucky last is timed to jump at 5.10pm.
Gates open at 11.30am and our free shuttle bus will run from the Star Hotel, American Hotel, The Caledonian Hotel, The Border Inn Hotel and the Moama Bowling Club, from 11.30am.
With a week of fine weather, we will be back ‘on top of the ground’, with the track to start the day with a Good 4 rating.
Here’s a look at the local hopes:
Brazen Shadow (Race 1, No.1): From the Johnstone stable and to be ridden by Rose Hammond. Hasn’t been too far off the winners at his first two starts. On his home track for the first time and nicely drawn in barrier four, one to play each way.
Ever Given (Race 3 No. 4): The second of the Johnstone runners. She has mixed her form over the past few runs, with some nice ‘run on’ efforts and a couple of average runs. Has drawn wide (11), but has a chance to run into the placings on her best form. Good each-way proposition.
Tutankhamun (Race 5, No.3): From the Archard stable, stays at the 2100m after a three-length fifth at Echuca three weeks ago. Another you would need to take on trust but could place on his best form.
The Talking Toff (Race 6, No.8): From the Gaskin stable, has been thereabouts over his past four runs. Hard to back with great confidence but the 1600m suits and can run a place from a nice gate.
Limbering (Race 6, No.15): Fifth emergency — if she gains a start, can give some cheek.
Darksaber (Race 7, No.2): This Dennis Oliver-trained gelding has also been mixing his form of late. Got well back and ran on well to just miss the placings last start at Benalla. A similar run here will see him in the placings — a real each-way chance.
Hey Denny (Race 8, No.5): First run for the Oliver stable. Well beaten at Kerang at his most recent start. Will go around at long odds.
It looks like a tough day for the locals tomorrow — no real local best bet I’m willing to tip.
As an each-way play, happy to have something on Ever Given, in race 3 and again with Darksaber in race 7.
Good luck to all the local runners and connections.
