A man who had multiple priors for similar offending was caught driving without a licence on a busy Shepparton street.
Luke Alan Nelson, of Shepparton, pleaded guilty in Shepparton Magistrates’ Court to driving while disqualified.
Prosecutor Senior Constable Kerrie Thomson said Nelson was caught driving a Honda sedan on Wyndham St at the Balaclava Rd intersection on August 26, 2024 while his licence had been disqualified.
At the time he told police he was just driving someone “up the street”, Sen Constable Thomson said.
Representing himself in court, the father said he worked at a packaging company.
In sentencing him, Magistrate Simon Zebrowski said Nelson had “five or six” priors for driving while disqualified or suspended.
“You keep putting hurdles up for yourself,” he said.
“You can’t just keep doing it.”
Nelson was fined $500 and his licence was suspended for three months.
