A teen told police there was “no reason” he was riding a motorbike at 164km/h.
Mason Maraldo, 18, of Katamatite East, pleaded guilty in Shepparton Magistrates’ Court to driving at a dangerous speed.
A police prosecutor told the court police caught Maraldo driving a motorbike at 164km/h on Katamatite-Shepparton Rd, Congupna, a 100km/h zone, on August 16, 2024.
The court heard Maraldo told police there was “no reason” for his driving.
His defence counsel said Maraldo was driving to his new job as a heavy diesel mechanic in Shepparton, and he had plans to move.
Magistrates Simon Zebrowski told Maraldo if something went wrong, things “can end up very badly for you”.
Maraldo was fined $600 with no conviction recorded, and he was disqualified from driving for 12 months.
Maraldo also told the court he no longer had the motorbike.
