A man allegedly used a knife and a baton to threaten police in a Shepparton street on Wednesday, February 5.
Shepparton Crime Investigation Unit Detective Senior Constable Andew Costello said police found the man on the street when they responded to a complaint in Williams Rd shortly before 9am.
The man was a short distance from the house they were responding to.
Police were concerned for their safety after the man threatened to use the knife and baton on police, Det Sen Constable Costello said.
The man was tasered by police and taken into custody.
He has been charged with assaulting police and threatening injury to resist arrest.
He was also charged with possessing a small amount of prescription drugs and cannabis.
He has been remanded to appear in Shepparton Magistrates’ Court on Friday, February 7.
Det Sen Constable Costello said the man allegedly walked the streets with the knife in the Williams Rd and Mitchell and Watson Sts area for about 30 minutes before police came across him.
