Mr Gray ran the well-respected Graythorn Poll Dorset Stud before going missing.
He had worked as a drover when he was 14, leaving his wife to hope he could be on an outback station somewhere.
The last people to see Mr Gray were his family on September 11, 2015.
Aged 66 at the time, Mr Gray filled up his white Holden Rodeo ute with fuel and drove off with $3000 in cash.
Mr Gray hasn’t been heard from since and his bank accounts have not been accessed.
Mr Gray’s brothers, Peter and Barry, said Ian devoted his life to sheep farming and the disappearance was out of character.
“We find it amazing that after six long years he still hasn’t been sighted or heard from,” the brothers said through NSW Police.
“We are encouraged by the police investigation and hope to be reunited with Ian soon.”
Murray River Police District Crime Manager Detective Chief Inspector Mick Stoltenberg said someone had to know something about Mr Gray’s disappearance.
“Even the smallest clues could be the missing piece to the puzzle that police need,” he said.
“His family deserve to know the truth.”
