I would like to draw your attention to the five dead trees in the Waring Gardens, situated between the lagoon and Cressy St.
The removal and replacement of these trees should be of the highest priority for our council.
The garden was set up in 1881 as a botanical garden and, with advice from the Botanical Gardens of Australia, could once again be a living example of the diversity of trees that could be grown in our hot climate.
The spending priority of our council should be on maintaining this jewel in our CBD.
The council should not be spending money on removing healthy trees in End St that are providing critical shade in our hot weather.
Our town desperately needs a strategic tree program to protect our historical trees and rebuild our urban treescape.
