The highest monthly rainfall came in October, with 151.6mm recorded in the Bureau of Meteorology’s rain gauge at the Shepparton Airport.
This is more than four times the historical mean October rainfall recorded over the past 26 years — that number is 35.4mm — while it is almost three times higher than the historical rainfall recorded in Shepparton between 1965 and 1996 (51.9mm).
October was also the month that Shepparton, Mooroopna and surrounding towns suffered from devastating floods.
This year’s monthly October rainfall was only 34mm less than the rainfall that also caused flooding in the region in 1993 — when 186mm of rain fell during the month.
The rainfall in November was much lower than the previous month, with a total of 49mm.
However it was up slightly (3.7mm) on the historical monthly average taken over the past 26 years.
November 13 was the wettest day of the month, when 16.2mm was recorded.
There were also slightly more rainy days than usual, with rain falling on 10 separate November days.
September saw 80.2mm of rain in Shepparton, far more than the historical average of 36.4mm taken over the past 26 years.
There were also more rainy days in September than usual, with rain falling on 14 days.
Both November day- and night-time temperatures this year were cooler than usual.
The day-time maximum temperature saw a mean of 22.1℃, compared to the historical average of 26.3℃.
The hottest day was on November 26 when it got to 29.1℃, while the coldest was the first day of the month when the mercury reached only 12.7℃.
Night-time temperatures were down only slightly on the historical average, with a mean minimum of 10.1℃ this year compared to the historical mean of 10.8℃.
The warmest November night this year came on November 10 when it was 16.2℃, while the coldest night was a chilly 4.7℃ on November 16.
October saw cooler days, but warmer nights in Shepparton.
The day-time October mean maximum temperature was 20.1℃, compared to the historical average of 22.2℃.
The mean minimum night-time temperature for the month was 9.8℃ — slightly warmer than the historical mean of 7.6℃.
September also saw slightly cooler days and slightly warmer nights than usual.
The mean day-time maximum temperature in Shepparton this September was 16.5℃, compared to the historical monthly average of 18.2℃.
Night-time minimum temperatures were 1.5℃ warmer than the historical average, with a mean of 6.5℃ this year.
Looking ahead for the next six days, it seems that summer has really arrived, with temperatures ranging from 28℃ to as high as 34℃ on Sunday.
Overnight minimums range between 11℃ on Thursday and Friday, up to 16℃ early next week.
