This year’s National Volunteer Week theme is ‘Something for Everyone’, and Community Living and Respite Services (CLRS) has a place for everyone in the world of volunteering.
CLRS is your local disability service provider, strongly focusing on volunteering opportunities that provide ‘Something for Everyone’ in Echuca Moama.
At CLRS, volunteers work across all aspects of the service.
Volunteers can join in at any of CLRS’s social enterprises.
Recyclability is a social enterprise that promotes the inclusion of people with a disability in the community.
It comprises the Recyclability Op Shop and curbside collection program.
You can visit the Op Shop at 3/5 Murray Valley Hwy, Echuca, Monday through Friday from 10am to 3pm and on Saturday from 10am to 1pm.
Murray River Tea Rooms Social Enterprise provides a safe and supportive environment where anyone can learn and develop new skills, and gain valuable experience in customer service and hospitality.
You can visit the Murray River Tea Rooms to escape the hustle and bustle for a relaxing cuppa and tasty treat at 10 Meninya St, Moama, Monday to Friday, 8am to 3pm.
Fundraising is a big part of what volunteers do at CLRS. The fundraising committee organises the annual fundraising dinner, Run Echuca Moama and the Riverboats Raffle.
For all CLRS fundraising activities, volunteers are needed to join working groups, help deliver the events, or help out on the day.
The Opening Doors Project is an initiative that supports CLRS in building homes for people with disabilities in our community, enabling them to live more independent lives.
CLRS has Opening Doors Project Ambassadors who give their voices to help the organisation access funding, support with fundraising and raise awareness of the project within the community.
If you have the skill set to support the strategic leadership of a community disability support service, you can become a volunteer board member at CLRS.
This is critical support that ensures good governance and strategic leadership for the organisation.
Volunteering at CLRS has many benefits, including promoting wellbeing, learning new skills, meeting new people and gaining friendships.
Volunteers give back to the Echuca Moama community, which can also be a pathway to employment.
Volunteering at CLRS is for everyone, regardless of your skills, abilities, or interests.
The organisation would like to thank all past and present volunteers for their contribution, and without that contribution, CLRS wouldn’t have been as successful as it is now.
As little as one hour can make a difference for people with disabilities and the events that CLRS delivers.
Upcoming events you can help with include:
Blind Speed Fundraising dinner, with the fastest blind man on a motorbike, Ben Felten, and his navigator, former MotoGP rider Kevin Magee. Rich River Golf Club, Friday, June 14.
Run Echuca Moama (previously Johnno’s Run), run, walk or wheel 21.1km, 10km, 5km or the junior event on Sunday, August 4.
