Once again, the bulls have gone through all the processes that enable the Wattlewood guarantee that provides sound and functional bulls that breeders love to own.
Ms Glover, who is an AI technician, said she enjoyed the ability to select and use sires from across the world and appreciated the advantages of using superior genetics.
This is obvious when viewing the progeny from some great sires such as Baldridge Beast Mode and Coonamble Hector, and seeing sires that have died, like Te Mania Ada, still making a positive impact in the herd.
The Wattlewood herd is vaccinated with 7-in-1 and Pesiegard annually and the bulls are also vaccinated with Vibrovax to safeguard them in any herd they are working for.
All Wattlewood calves are HD50K genotyped, PI-tested negative for bovine viral diarrhoea virus and the bulls are semen tested prior to their sale.
The Glovers have a philosophy that they can never know who might purchase the bulls and what their new home’s facilities are like, so to help the farmers out, every bull is halter-broken and can be delivered in a horse float straight into the paddock with the cows or without the need for a loading ramp.
“Having halter-broken animals makes handling them a lot easier when they are seeing a vet for a semen test or treatment of things like pinkeye — they just don’t fight you in the crush,” Ms Glover said.
The Wattlewood team is looking forward to welcoming visitors to its Lang Lang property for Beef Week on Saturday, January 28 where the Wattlewood sale catalogues will be available and the sale bulls can be previewed.
A selection of pregnancy tested in-calf females will be available for private treaty on the day.
