The group is staging a free barbecue with live music and a visit from Santa on Friday (December 2) at the kiosk — alongside the supermarket.
Organisers are asking people to bring along a picnic rug for the launch of the much-anticipated trail.
A three-hour window has been set aside for the event, from 5pm until 8pm, with gold-coin donations requested for those taking advantage of Santa Claus’ presence for a photo.
With the recent weather events, and flooding, Tongala Development Group had found it difficult to source hay for this year’s Tongala Hay Bale Trail.
Thanks to the Reid, Hodgson, Tyler, Cardillo and Nexhip families the hay bales were not only supplied, but also delivered, and several are nearing completing for the Friday evening launch.
The group was committed to ensuring the free community event continued, thousands of visitors coming to the town during the festive period to view the painted bales.
There are 33 round bales in total, which will be returned after the trail concludes in mid-January.
