PREMIUM News Tiger mums celebrate special day early By Rohan Aldous May 7, 2023 Early present: Rochester football mums Leila Evans (mother of Blake), Ruth O’Connor (Nick), Jane Martin (Angus), Sally Wileman (Bailey and Darby) and Beck Pearse (Declan) before the ladies day event at Rochester Recreation Reserve on Saturday. They later celebrated the senior team’s first win of 2023. Leading ladies: Rochester netball president Katie Rasmussen and Goulburn Valley League board chair Jacqui Hudgson in the ladies day marquee on Saturday. Cheer squad: Jac Rasmussen and Louise Williams were following the fortunes of their sons, teenager Nate Rasmussen and experienced forward Sean Williams, from the confines of a well appointed marquee. Taxi: Travelling from Bendigo to Rochester for the club’s annual ladies day event became somewhat of an adventure for Geraldine Jeffrey, Judy O’Keefe, Dot Pretlove, Marie Fisher, Briga Fliedner and Carolyn Baker. Marie was responsible for organising the Bendigo women and had identified that the 11.07am train would allow the crew to arrive for the 12.30pm opening of the marquee doors. When they arrived at Bendigo train station and found there was no 11.07am train, despite being told it was operating, Marie’s demands of a solution were met with the arrival of two taxis. V/Line paid for the women’s transportation to Moon Oval, with one taxi forced to go via Epsom to pick up one of the group. Early on Saturday they were hopeful of the 4.07pm train from Rochester to Bendigo being on time. Fabulous four: Cara Pretty, Shae Eddy, Kristie Gebbie and Monique Whitehead at the ladies day marquee for the Tigers’ round six win against Tatura. By Rohan Aldous Contributor
