The other stars, of course, will be the birds themselves.
Mr Dooley saw a record 703 birds in 2002 and wrote a book about it: The Big Twitch.
He’s also written a cooking book, written for TV comedies such as Hamish and Andy, Full Frontal and Spicks and Specks, and is currently the editor of Australian Birdlife magazine.
In fact, he’s so into birds, he’s been dubbed ‘The Birdman’, which makes him the perfect guest for the February 9 event.
“My writing about birds is driven by the desire to connect people with nature,” Mr Dooley said.
“Conservation can’t happen without people and people won’t bother to care unless they have some connection to it.”
Connecting people with nature is what Breakfast with the Birds is all about, and North Central CMA project manager Amy Russell said Mr Dooley’s attendance will give people an amazing opportunity to connect and chat.
“Bring your bird questions and Mr Dooley will answer them for you,” she said.
“The plans are to hold this year’s Breakfast with the Birds at Lake Tutchewop near Kerang.
“The mud flats of Tutchewop provide the perfect conditions at this time of year for migratory shore birds, so hopefully there’s a few surprises in store for us, weather permitting.
“Over the past few years, we’ve been managing rabbit and fox control programs, as well as revegetation, to protect Lake Tutchewop and its surrounds.”
Breakfast with the Birds will be held on Sunday, 9 February from 6am to 10am.
