Strathallan Hall is slated for demolition following Campaspe Shire Council's decision at their June 18 meeting.
The hall sustained significant structural damage from flooding in 2011 and in 2022, sparking an insurance-led investigation by an engineering firm into the building.
As a result, Campaspe Shire Council and the Strathallan Hall Committee reviewed four future options for the hall, including to repair, rebuild or demolish it.
The chosen option is to demolish the building and transform the site into a nature reserve. This new reserve will feature picnic tables, a shelter, and informative signage about the site’s history.
Strathallan Hall opened in 1929 and has been used for community events like dances, barbecues, and parties, as well as their annual Christmas tree celebration.
Council and the Strathallan Hall Committee are working together to design the reserve.
