The wind gusts reached 83 km/h, and wind speeds up to 65 km/h, leaving a path of destruction across the district.
The Deniliquin and Conargo SES unit controller Jodie Graham said Monday afternoon they were called to deal with a tree overhanging a public walkway area, threatening to fall.
The unit worked together to remove any risk to the public.
“We went over, assessed the situation and cut the tree into bits on Cooinda Lane.
“It was in response to a call as it prevented road access from a property for an elderly resident.
“It is also a busy thoroughfare for school students. We removed the tree and got rid of the risk.”
The SES had earlier attended Whitelock St, Deniliquin, at 4.24am, where a tree branch had fallen across a power line and on a nearby property’s front fence.
Mrs Graham said there were other incidents around the district, but SES was not called upon.
“There were other incidents around, but residents dealt with those themselves as they weren’t on any houses or blocking any essential walkways,” she said.
