After the Royal Melbourne Show decided to bring back a poultry show to its program after several years without one, the Essendon Poultry Society has been forced to find a new venue, with Shepparton this year’s home of the event.
With a wide range of poultry set to be on display at Shepparton Showgrounds on June 30, the Victorian Waterfowl Feature Show will be a special part of the annual event, which is expected to attract up to 800 birds.
A state show for children aged between five and 16 will also be a highlight.
The moving of the event has seen all entries so far from towns around Shepparton, which has caught the organisers by surprise.
The Essendon Poultry Society’s show will be held at Shepparton Showgrounds on Sunday, June 30 from 9am to 3pm. The public is welcome to attend.
■Entries are open until Sunday, June 23 and can be completed by phoning Essendon Poultry Society show secretary and treasurer Pauline Swift on 0416214834 or visit: www.essendonpoultrysociety.net or the society’s Facebook page.
■Shepparton will also host the Soft Feathered Poultry Show on Saturday, July 6.
