The Saturday night beers will have tasted a bit sweeter for United’s players after a 186-run win against the Bloods, with neither side to progress to this season’s finals.
With a club record 4-365 to defend it was able to play with a bit of confidence and knocked over its opposition for 179.
Starring for United was Harry Tonks, the young quick finishing with career-best figures of 5-37, the first five-wicket haul of his time.
He started well with the first four wickets of the day, with Mitch McGrath (duck), Jason Ibbotson (12), Taylor Dunning (12) and Michael Mandaradoni (duck) all sent packing.
Up stepped the Karramomus clubber that is Tim Belford, smashing United’s bowlers as hard as he could in 46 runs off 36 balls.
Sam Green also made some runs, finding 36 as more wickets tumbled around him.
From 9-125, Karramomus found a quite remarkable 10th-wicket stand; Luke Sibley went the tonk and smashed 58 off 48 balls, while Jacob Kerr took the opposite approach at the other, making an unbeaten two from 47 deliveries.
Sam Nash eventually picked up the last of the day to wrap up the comfortable win, Rehan Bari the other star with the ball taking 4-31 off 17 balls.
It ended United’s season on a high despite disappointing post-Christmas form, six consecutive losses seeing it drop from the top of the ladder after round six to miss the top six.
For Karramomus, it proved a season of development, with young talents leading the side to three wins.
