The Shepparton Jazz Orchestra has brought together 15 local musicians to perform classic big band pieces from Gordon Goodwin’s repertoire and entertain the Goulburn Valley audience.
This Sunday, December 3, orchestra manager Brian Matthews said the orchestra will perform a unique show in the Dookie Arts Hub, Mary St, Dookie.
“Wade Gregory, our musical director, has written a jazz suite about Shepparton with pieces such as Edward St and Broken River Dve, which is this concert’s special feature,” he said.
“Not many places have a jazz suite written about them, so this is very special for us to play.”
There will also be more contemporary jazz songs, such as Let the Good Times Roll, with feature vocals by Shepparton’s Rachael Howard.
Rehearsals have been smooth sailing, and the band can’t wait to hit the stage, Mr Matthews said.
“The rehearsals, we are very happy, the band is tight and fired up and really, we are looking to the show,” he said.
Admission to the concert is free, and performances will begin at 2pm.
